To protect and serve the citizens of Howard City and Reynolds Township and provide them with the best law enforcement available, by doing this we improve the quality of life for our citizens.

GOALS

By using quality leadership along with professionalism and extensive, continuing education for all of our officers, we are able to provide the best law enforcement possible to the community.

We use our resources in the most effective ways, which increases the level of services that we can provide. The department believes in being professional and fair in it’s daily duties.

Law Enforcement is a community effort, it is your responsibility as a citizen, and the law, to report crimes and your knowledge of them. We work for you and only together can crime be effectively reduced. Don’t wait until you’re the victim to report what you know.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Howard City Police Department provides police services to residents and business in a 36 square mile area.

The Police Department is governed by the Village of
Howard City and contracts Police services to Reynolds Township. Together which has a combined population of over
6,000 people.

Howard City is located in what is known as the panhandle of
Montcalm County near the center of Michigan, approx. one and half miles east of US 131 and M-82 and approx. 30 miles north of Grand Rapids. We are unique in our close borders with three surrounding counties, which results in mutual aid to all.
