The Planning Commission is dedicated to improving the quality of life for the Howard City area and creating economic vitality throughout the village and county.  The Planning Commission and its staff pursue these goals by promoting the highest standards for development and revitalization in Howard City.

The Planning Commission shall have the power to authorize a specific variance from site development requirements such as lot area and width regulations, building height and bulk regulations, yard width and depth regulations, and off-street parking and loading space requirements.

The Planning Commission shall hear and decide such matters as described in the Village’s Zoning Ordinance. The Planning Commission shall have the power to interpret the zoning map, to hear and decide appeals where it is alleged that an error was made by the Zoning Administrator, and to approve variances from the provisions of this ordinance.
